Idea projektu
The main idea of the proposal is protect replica of the Globe Theater from the weather. This roofing allows the theater season to be extended regardless of the weather, offers visitors dignified covered entrance areas and also creates a new landmark in the area of the Prague Exhibitions Grounds.
Popis projektu
The project deals with the roofing of a replica of the Globe Theater, which is currently not physically built. It is undergoing reconstruction after the devastating fire in 2005. The idea of creating a spacious covered and comfortable space for visitors, which responds in shape to the established urban planning composition, led me to design a rectangular roof plan. By covering the almost circular floor plan of the theater with a rectangle, there are created the surrounding roofed areas, which I effectively use as a communication space for visitors, actors, but mainly for the entrance foyer. I designed two smaller single storey buildings located in foyer, which is used as a base for the theater guests. These two masses don’t disturb the view of the theater building itself. The base for the actors consist of a single storey building, located in the back of the theater directly behind the stage. The building is designed for the location of changing rooms, sanitary facilities and possibly for a small warehouse of props or costumes.
Technické informace
The roof construction is designed as a PTFE tensile membrane in the shape of ridge and valley. The whole area of roof is formed by nine regular ridge waves. The supporting structure is consist of inclined steel columns with a diameter of 300 mm and tensile rods. The whole structure is reinforced around the perimeter by steel trusses, which are located between the individual inclined columns. The lower concave ropes of the valleys are attached to the truss girder via steel corner plates. Ridge convex ropes are attached via ridge corner plates to the top of the inclined steel columns. Rainwater from the roof is drained from the membrane valley through a rain gutter on the polycarbonated cover of the trusses. There is captured to the roof gutters and then drained to underground (for its further processing) via draining vertical pipe DN 160. In a view of the technical and structural appearance of the building, I decided to show a vertical rainwater drainage pipe. The rainwater pipe is led in front of the supporting steel columns, to which it is attached at given distances. For the whole construction is intentionally chosen white color as for the PTFE membrane.
