EN Connection. Openness. Breaking down barriers. These phenomena, in response to contemporary sociological problems, became the initial requirements that, together with the window as an element in Rem Koolhaas' performance, form the springboard of the entire project. In contrast to the classical conception of windows as openings that are created secondarily in the walls, in this design the shape and position of the window is the controlling element for the overall form, to which the other structures are subordinated. In addition to these primary windows, there are also secondary windows that mainly provide optimization of the environment and are not determinative of the form. In the first phase, the position of the windows is defined, which is systematically generated by analysing the basal relationships between both interior and exterior spaces. In parallel, a layout is also created that merges the rooms into three categories according to the type of human activity, namely sleep, work and life. These are complemented by service spaces such as toilets, garage and technical facilities. In the second phase, the dimensions and other formal attributes are then addressed. The system for selecting individual windows is given by the catalogue, where 5 basic types of windows are defined depending on the nature of the connection between the rooms. These interconnections are pre-determined by a complex interconnection diagram. The height of the sill is usually based on the eye height of a person in the typical position of the room and the width affects the floor area of the room. Glasses of different transparency and reflectivity are used as fillings. The catalogue, together with a comprehensive theoretical survey, is contained in a supplementary manual. Tyto fenomény se v reakci na současné sociologické problémy staly výchozími požadavky, které společně s oknem jakožto elementem v podání Rema Koolhaase vytváří odrazový můstek celého projektu. Narozdíl od klasického pojetí oken jako otvorů, které vznikají druhotně ve stěnách, je v tomto návrhu tvar a poloha okna pro celkovou formu řídícím prvkem, kterému se podřizují další konstrukce. Vedle těchto primárních oken jsou taky sekundární okna, která zajišťují hlavně optimalizaci prostředí a pro tvar nejsou určující. V první fázi je definována poloha oken, která je systematicky generovaná na základě rozboru bazálních vztahů mezi jednotlivými jak interiérovými, tak exteriérovými prostory. Souběžně je vytvořena i dispozice, která slučuje místnosti do tří kategorií podle typu lidské činnosti a to spánek, práce a život. Ty jsou ještě doplněny o provozní prostory jako wc, garáž či technické zázemí. Ve fázi druhé jsou pak řešeny rozměry a další formální atributy. Systém volby jednotlivých oken je dán katalogem, kde je definováno 5 základních typů oken v závislosti na charakteru propojení mezi jednotlivými místnostmi. Tato propojení jsou předem dána komplexním diagramem propojení. Výška parapetu se obvykle odvíjí od výšky očí člověka v poloze typické pro daný prostor a šířka postihuje podlahovou plochu místnosti. Jako výplně jsou použita skla s různou průhledností a reflexivitou. Katalog je spolu se souhrnným teoretickým průzkumem obsažen v doplňující příručce.
