the STU campus solution Center of Innovation in Bratislava

Idea projektu

The concept the design of innovation center for the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava was the modulation division of the entire building. It is based on the existing construction of heavy laboratories, which we want to preserve. Following the heavy laboratories, the module is nine meters high and creates a cube, which gradually creates a unique structure. The design process was more of a sculptural character. Removing modulation cubes in a large uniform area.

Popis projektu

Heavy laboratories will keep the supporting structure, only the spaces inside will change for better overall continuity of all functions. Our superstructure is then carried by the skeleton above it. We have a free mezzanine floor with an outdoor covered ground floor which offers spaces for exhibition, presentation or even relaxation. In the lower existing part a large exhibition hall will be created over two floors with an atrium, a production center - a model room, a press room, a study room, a cafeteria and partly the original heavy laboratories will be preserved. The upper outbuilding part contains a presentation and innovation center with laboratories, offices and lecture halls and another part of heavy laboratories. A café and a rectory stand out above the level of the surrounding faculties. This allows us to take advantage of the unrivaled view of the whole Bratislava city. As part of the modification of the entire ground floor, we highlighted the entrances with yellow gates which will facilitate orientation. The street space was calmed down and the surroundings were supplemented with tall greenery.

Technické informace

From a technical point of view, our building is fully self-supporting. The weight is carried by pillars above a heavy laboratory. The preserved skeletal system helps the whole building.
