The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Idea projektu
The main idea of my project is interaction of two buildings – the embassy and the residence. Between the official embassy building and the residence a ´courtyard´ was created, which connects representative parts of both buildings and forms representative part of the garden. The water surface resembles a long tradition of ponds in Czechia.
Popis projektu
The land is divided into two areas – the area for local workforces and the embassy area itself. New street was build between areas to connect the existing streets in the north and sounth of the site. In the west of the newly establised boundaries of the area is the consular and visa office and apartment building. The parterre od the embassy area is divided into 4 parts. A common recreational garden between theconsular and visa office and apartment building and the embassy with swimming pool, tukul and children´s playground. Sports area with tennis court at the eastern boundary of the property and private garden of the residence in the northeast corner of the complex. The main representative garden is located between the embassy and the residence. The parking area, for visitors of the consular and visa office, is located near the building for local workforces and parking for workers is for gatehouse. The main driveway leads to the embassy. The residence has its own entrance from the west side, which can be used as exit for big events. The land is grassed and planted with deciduous trees. Communications are paved.
Technické informace
All load-bearing structures are made of reinforced concrete. Other materials which are used are glass, steel (frame and ledge) and wood for moveable shading panels. The stone cladding is used for the lining of fence and first floor of the consular and visa office and apartment building.
