Expozice nostalgické železnice v Rokytnici nad Jizerou

Idea projektu

Revitalization and New Use of the Nostalgic Steam Railway Terminal Area. The site is located on the eastern bank of the Jizera River, within the cadastral territory of Rokytnice nad Jizerou.

Popis projektu

The massing of the buildings follows the natural lines of the surrounding landscape while creating a self-contained space. This space connects the railway, river, cycling path, and the former engine house. The southern part of the complex houses a museum with a restaurant. A metal cladding gives the exhibition an industrial feel and visually unifies the large volume. A glass-walled restaurant, extending from the heavy steel museum structure, offers a scenic view of the Jizera River. The long-standing tradition of rock climbing in northern Bohemia is reflected in the northern structures. A bouldering area bridges the old with the new, repurposing the former engine house. The project captivates by blending education, sports activities, and excellent cuisine in a stunning submontane setting.

Technické informace

The construction of the building is made of steel, with perforated metal cladding and large glass facades. The bouldering wall is made of frosted glass, creating a soft, diffused light effect.
