To turn a dilapidated, socially disused site into a cultural local centre that will develop the community and encourage residents to be green and creative. JUST AS THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS UNDERGOING RENOVATION, THE BUILDING ITSELF WILL SYMBOLICALLY UNDERGO A SIMILAR TRANSFORMATION.

The nursery is intended to be an isolated environment for the safe development of children, but this goes against the intention to open the site to the public. Therefore, some parts of the building have been DEMOLISHED and replaced with a new spacious and uncluttered structure that is open to take the building in its own way. The aim is to create a multi-level space that will be remove complications in the development of not only young people. The basic idea was also to provide people who live in flats, contact with nature and an approach of discovering for themselves the principles of GARDENING and to develop their CREATIVITY with the added value of bringing people with the same interest together. The basic requirement is to AWAKEN THE INITIATIVE IN PEOPLE, that can turn the neighbourhood into a functioning user-friendly area focused on quality of life. The basic criterion is not to impose an alien view on the place, but to leave what makes it distinctive and only add functional parts needed to DEVELOP it. Only the necessary parts will be removed, the effort will be to preserve as much identity as possible of the building. There will be ADMITTED modifications, reinforcement, wiring, and conversely, the visibility of the retained structure will be promoted, on which the history of the site is visible. The existing building, the Claude Bernard Nursery School, is a remnant of the generous expansion of the suburb of Lille in the 1970s, in the 1970s. The building was completed in 1976. In the immediate vicinity are newly built dormitories, Crous social and student housing, several larger apartment buildings and a large commercial center. There are a large number of STUDENTS of all ages in the area due to the nearby daycare, elementary school, the canteen and part of the Université de Lille campus. Technické informace

The building will be also READY FOR USE, AGING AND TRANSFORMATION. As plaster, permeable silicate mixtures will be chosen, which will be treated on the exterior with a visible process whereby it will not be retracted to a perfect plane, but will be left the trace of the craftsmanship, the new structure will be made of a handsome CLT panel on the inside and the existing reinforced concrete structures will be visible on the south elevation, where a discontinuous section creates shading from summer solar gains.
