Located in the heart of the Nepalese city, Patan; the Mystery Helix Park ‘Pavilion’ is a landscape project proposal for revitalizing the public space. This effort is being undertaken to clean up an area that is now vacant and heavily trafficked.
Looking at the provided site's current state reveals that it is clogged with trash and debris. It is the site that is located in the center of the city as a result of which thousands of people pass from the site every day and are forced to see trash everywhere in the site, smell foul odor everywhere, and dirty rain water buildup throughout the site. The main challenge was to find a solution for the problem of vacant spaces and breathe life into the site.
The mystery helix park ‘pavilion’ is designed to create a mysterious appearing park with greenery. The environment is created by the concrete structure at the center focal point with green trees to balance the concretization. The curvilinear path with ups and down in structure gives us an interesting vibe with each other.
The main theme of this pavilion is to create a space with a palpable sense of anticipation offering the senses of denial and reward that compels one to further investigate. A key to pique your curiosity that coerces you to walk through this during the chaotic life.
The location is elevated above the surrounding ground in order to address the problem of rainwater buildup while taking suitable drainage measures. Precast concrete blocks are brought to the site and joined together to create the curvilinear pavilion structure, which is built of light concrete.
