THE GREATER CONTEXT
The project analyses very well the issues and problems in relation this particular context . Many are universal in emerging countries. There is a constant duality between survival (poverty) and cultural heritage. Architectural heritage is not a priority concern. The strategy to link its preservation and economic revival and regeneration is usually a winner both in terms of financials but also for convincing communication. So I am totally in agreement with the general strategy.
THE IMMEDIATE URBAN SURROUNDINGS
Karachi climate would not be incompatible to have an elevated roof canopy giving shade and rain protection while allowing cross ventilation and natural light (see example Singapore Chinatown Food Street). The whole of G Hussain road will become a true urban public space . Please add then urban furniture and landscaping with trees and greens,
Invite artists to express themselves on the topics chosen by yourself and the relevant context.
THE PROJECT COMPONENTS
Transparency has been mentioned as a guiding principle in the intentions. I believe this could be pushed to its limits. I would associate others words such as visual continuity , seamless flow of circulation (as personified by the bridges) to push the limits of transparency and permanent linkages everywhere and at all levels.
This will be expressed in the most contemporary manner connecting the old and the new into a dialogue of generations.
I wish you the best
