Dear Dukagjin and Endrit
I had reviewed your proposal and had made some comments. I am sending it back to you. Hopefully it can be helpful.
You have the potential for an excellent proposal, however there are a few things I like you to concentrate on.
You have designed a social housing as an architectural component. but how does it relate or answers to the social/ economic, cultural and environmental issues that you have identified?
What is the answer to your question about the context?
I see some environmental points in your project but a massive concrete construction violates the principles of sustainability. So you need to make these goals more tangible as they relate to how the society may benefit from your architecture design.
Also you should have a separate research about congestion, land infrastructure and space per capita and permitted percentage of construction.
In addition, locate trees and vegetation in all unites, lanes and access roads, and create a 3d site plan of the rest of the area, with room for your public park, shelters for people, water pools, exhibition areas, service facilities, etc. because a mix use area acts more efficiently. Also common areas should be design as private areas designed.
A social housing should answer to the resident’s basic needs such as a supermarket, pharmacy and etc.
The distance between the blocks should be at least equal to the height of each block to have proper lighting. in your proposal this space seems less.
Technical points are very important for a large scale building which hundreds of people spend their lives in these buildings. So the building should include fire escape stairs for each block. The number of entrances and exits intended for parking is less than required.
About the architectural design I want you to design a delighted shared space by making the connection between blocks. In addition, make some voids to lighten the mass.
It is not appropriate to integrate the units of the three groups (families, students and Elders) into one level of building because they certainly have different lifestyles and they feel more comfortable separately. Narrow and long corridors cause insecurity in the building. even if there is no threat, the sense of security in people in a close and invisible space disappears. I expect that in such a dense building, the structure of the balconies is designed in two directions because the act as a private yard for each unit.
Eventually architecture should be in touch with the urban as the context and make the city more beautiful and functional. Although mass production is not a good solution for cities but as an architect we are responsible to redefine architecture to something that is not destructive.
