My design for a Family House with a space of 12 * 20 m. The main idea is to design a house that is suitable for a family living. I tried to achieve that by… more
Since it is a family house with a large number of family members, it is necessary to create several living rooms, where groups of family members can gather in different activities. Therefore, the living room should not always be viewed as a uniform space, but assume different possibilities of its use. The dining area is too small in relation to the number of family members and I think it is better to separate it from the living area intended for interaction with guests. It is necessary to provide more auxiliary rooms and a maximum of 1 bathroom per two rooms and no less.
In respect to the overall concept the atrium is too small to receive light in a two-story structure. Also, it is too small even to provide for necessary ventilation. Therefore, I propose separating the day and night zone (left and right) with a larger atrium, which could also become a part of the entrance zone. Next, I suggest that on the ground floor there should be a separate area for guests reception, and apart from it a living room with a dining room for the family. Enlarge the kitchen and equip it with auxiliary rooms, connect it with a potential garage and a separate economical entrance from the back. On the first floor, 1 to 2 more bathrooms should also be provided, as well as an alternative space for the gathering of younger family members.
In terms of composition design, I propose to deconstruct a cubic form out and enable articulation of more different smaller cubes varied in size, position, texture and position, i.e. a greater degree of translucency of the pace. In means an interplay of open, semi-open and closed volumes intended to capture light, shade and air, as well as to provide for better ventilation and circulation.
