I think the Urban response is quite interesting. fragmentation of the building mass and creating access and permeability is a key to a successful urban space at the level of planning. I also might consider urban buildings as humans who has expressions towards and communicate well and guide for a happy habitation with engagement.
In that term facades and the detailing of the building can be dressed with creative building forms and having a more expressive facades with additional dose of permeability to invite people in to the activities inside. Yes you need to follow the building lines and at the same time you can play with them to gather more people around your project in to the landscape and take them in to the building. When the Urban spaces are designed more to become places then they belongs to people more.
