This is a very well written detailed proposal. I enjoyed the reference to Vienna and aiming to capture it within your design as a tribute. The curtain wall you proposed as the façade of the new block facing the courtyard impressed me. You have aimed to utilize the sunlight which is entering from the south western direction and also took care of this light intensity in the summer by providing columns and arches for the ground and upper floor levels. The double height roof from the ground level to the top level is also an idea I enjoyed. Underground parking is a smart usage of resources as well as it meets an important societal requirement while also not taking away from space that can be used for other activities and aesthetically pleasing green space.
When you are proposing the demolition of the existing historical structures to create a courtyard, then it is important to keep in mind that we should maintain as much open space as possible. You have proposed basketball courts, an amphitheater and a new block with underground parking, these are all excellent additions, but they need to be balanced out with keeping green space and not making the courtyard packed and congested. As the campus is in downtown, it is a place where people will gather and spend time.
While an amphitheater provides seating spaces for students to spend their days and interact, a basketball court does not do the same. While a fun sport and a healthy activity, it does not cater to the masses while taking up precious limited space that could be used alternatively to provide seating spaces and an opportunity for students to enjoy the courtyard. Only a limited number of students can benefit from this at a certain moment, so it is not the most efficient usage of a limited resource.
