This is a beautiful building proposal that sits just in the middle of the STI campus.
Sitting right in the middle could have been thought twice since what we need in such campuses is more open space, a kind the campus has already, but not a building blocking people's connection with nature and each other. If we are obliged to build, maybe we should be looking for some other qualities in the building, such as adding transparency, green, shortcuts, and so on. Sure, the proposed atrium, as a shortcut, adds a lot to the existing and future environment, but still, the campus seems to need larger social spaces.
"Stepping" is a good concept that exists in the actual physical environment and can be used as a principle for the addition. This stepping idea could have been forced more, in order to reach more dynamic spaces.
The furniture proposed for outdoor spaces could have been designed around a certain theme, and also connected to each other. Open spaces and their coherency is as important as the indoor environment. In the ground floor plan, which is skilfully handled, it would be nice if we were able to observe the outdoor uses and buildings' connections with the garden as well.
A good quality approach to very limited and problematic land.
