Beirut Seaport Development project delivers interesting insight into important economic activity. The destruction of the existing port has allowed portraying this vital institution with a novel ideology. The attempt of the team to generate ideologically robust design is highly appreciated. You have developed the given scenario into a high-caliber economic hub that targets local and international users. The core of the development proposal has fostered the economy as its core value will sustain the project in long term. Even the design brief formulation serves the objectives of the project appropriately. The design has developed its generic tectonics thinking of the urban masterplan that merges its periphery with the existing urban fabric.
Somehow to make your project a masterpiece, please go through the following comments. Analysis of the context, function, and user need to elaborate clearly. The responsiveness of the analytical framework can be given in diagrams and in infographics to justify your design approach. The contextual identity could enhance by designing elements (architectural) to make your scheme locally erected and at the same time globally responsive. Analysis of the user needs to address a few important aspects pointed below,
- Lifestyle enrichment of the locals via design implementation
- International counterparts and their engagement in the project at the operational level
Diverse functional aspects should interconnect through identified anchoring function. The port function and indispensable storage function should integrate in a harmonized manner to portray the importance of past events and their impact on the design. The residual of the explosion can be taken as a retrospective area and should incorporate into the journey inside the port complex. Sustainability as a core ideological component has been addressed by the team though, energy efficiency, green energy consumption, sustainable material usage, and passive techniques should represent in the panels with detailing.
The circular forms of the buildings can be altered according to the responsive forces. The facades and openings of the recreational and socio-cultural functions can create a dialogue with the sea/horizon. the integrity of the design can be improved with the connectivity of functions/spaces/buildings by enhancing the different journeys of multiple users.
