The Science and Engineering Center “HAKKEN” is a place where new ideas will be born and scientific discoveries will be made, which can be immediately tested in engineering developments. This is a place where people will work with each other in an atmosphere of cooperation and co-creation. This project includes both model of a center's building and environmental design of surrounding territory. The center is multifunctional which includes techical university, library with technical literature and a place for rest with cafes and territory for walking. The center will be called "Hakken", which means "opening" in Japanese. The name has a double meaning. First, it will be a place of new scientific and engineering discoveries. And secondly, in it a person will be open to nature, and nature is open to a person - and the balance will be restored without fail.

The ecological design of the building of the center and territory around it resembles a crystal with different faces, each of which has a clear geometric figure and faces a unique point in space. This is a symbol of the versatility of the world, as well as the value of different points of view. Glass shifts of the center will give people maximum sunlight, which will make their stay in the center comfortable. The " HAKKEN " center will be included in a multi - tiered structure with height differences , imitating a natural landscape , with artificial reservoirs and walking routes.

The center's building is made of ultra durable and ecologically clean glass which is the part of center's ecological design, the opacity of which depends on weather conditions. On the one hand, this will make it possible to save energy by bringing natural light into the premises, and on the other hand, during sunny weather, it will make staying inside the building comfortable.The construction of the bulding is also made of concrete which is also very ecological, emits almost zero CO2, long time used and natural because it is made of microalgaes. It is based on Prometheus materials startup which expands production of bioconcrete blocks using The University of Colorado Boulder patented technology which are 90 percents sustainable than portland cement analogues and in terms of physical and technical characterictics not inferior to them. Autodesk, Microsoft and architects from SOM invested 8 million dollars in this project.
