Early Christian mosaics were analyzed as the initial inspiration for the project. An authentic interior design was obtained by taking a certain animal symbol from the mosaic, a fish, stylizing it and integrating it into the bar surface.

Today's insight into the crucial early phase of this part of mosaic history is limited by the loss of almost everything that was made during the first half of the fourth century. The content of the paintings is almost entirely pagan, but among the non-Christian elements, a number of scenes from the Old and New Testaments are inserted. In the earliest group of mosaics, objects and animals symbolize the good shepherd, while later scenes contain scenes from the story of Jonah, symbolic animals such as a lamb and a deer, and a representation of bread and wine.
