Currently, urbanization has taken a huge wave over the area of Beirut, buildings losing their architectural identity with any correlation to the past style adopted in Beirut, and low amount of green sates in comparison to pre-war landuse. Hence, the port was conceived as partly detached from the city, so the main goal was to reconnect it with its existing neighborhood and expand it into a well-configured port.

The memorial was placed where the explosion happened, where a monolithic structure was put to send a political and a strong menage about the resilience of the Lebanese people. Off-axis are pillars placed in the sea, representing the lost souls on the day of the explosion. That can be lit at night, and faded into the sea horizon, seen from afar.
