Dear Yorsa,
I have been assigned by Inspireli to review your entry.
First of all, let me congratulate you on your project! You have done well in your endeavor to bring together culture, heritage and spirituality in a modern space. Your initial intention to reference traditional islamic architecture, translates well from the colour pallet and graphic design of your presentation, to the materials and patterns you have chosen in your design.
The amphitheater, Hadra Hall, successfully constructs a spiritual ambiance. However, I am concerned with the amount of light you have presented from the patterned walls to the interior, as it seams to be emanating from an exterior source and not the inside hallway. The restaurant is well thought out and the influence of tradition is clear. But, the rest of the culture center is lacking in detail, making it difficult to conclude if the project reached its overall potential.
I find the theme of spirals and circles inspired by the sufi dancers, really interesting, it is evident that you have tried to incorporate that in your design, by the centric amphitheatre and the circular motion you described in the lobby. But, the notion could have been a lot more dynamic by guiding the visitor through, instead of in front of, the different areas you are proposing. Also, since you referenced that you aimed to integrate islamic elements in the city, it would be important to know the location of your project and examine if it accurately integrates to the urban surroundings. Lastly, I would encourage you to reference and be inspired by the shapes, elements and ornamental parts of traditional architecture instead of mimicking them to bring about a more original approach to your, already, interesting design.
All things considered, I enjoyed your project! I want to thank you for your participation and I wish you luck in your future.
All the best,
Michail
