Dear Matvey Chuprunov
Thank you very much for participating in the INSPIRELI EDUCATION International Student Competition. We very appreciate your time and effort to produce this excellent design work.
To begin with, I would like to thank the INSPIRELI AWARD structure for the honor you accord me to my person providing an analysis (Matvey Chuprunov in Russian Federation).
An ambitious city reflects the ambitions of its people. BEIRUT is an incredibly ambitious. Luckily, its ambitions exceed their current reality. Like New York, Paris, London, Barcelona and many others before her, BEIRUT dreams big. But unlike those cities, it lacks the financial reality of those cities, not to mention the problems that need to be addressed urgently. This is why it becomes necessary to harness the ambition and creativity that prevail in the region to address and meet the goals that the city has set.
With the creative and efficient use is made of available resources, this project can become an icon that symbolizes the progress of BEIRUT. It is not to replicate what these cities are or have, simply by identifying what makes one can reinterpret BEIRUT and highlight what makes it different. If you face the realities in a clever and efficient way, BEIRUT has the opportunity to strengthen and even end up being bigger than anyone’s dreams.
Ideas of history and identity are key to any city. Many cities are currently choosing to erase/cover "unwanted" history and shapes the city with classic forms of public space. Your suggestion was not to reuse existing city forms as much as possible and reinterpret them in a more modern and people-friendly way.
correct for the city's collective memory, would provide a richer public space and be significantly more efficient in terms of investment spending.
The design was a very complex urban fabric, whose elements overlap and intermingle, and the perception of the visual landscape of the design was through visual images subject in their compositions to values derived from the aesthetics of urbanization along with functional, social, as well as cultural values on which planning thought and urban design are all based.
I congratulate you on innovative ideas to produce an integrated design with all its standards.
I also wish I could see in the design new directions within the framework of the application of sustainability standards is to seek to maintain and rehabilitate existing buildings and develop existing neighborhoods, so that they are environmentally friendly through solutions to reduce energy consumption and develop the green area.
My greetings
