This peace park design is a good design intervention for the community and would be beneficial to users. The use of a water fountain in such a climate will improve humidity, therefore creating an appropriate microclimate in the park. Trees would also create shade for users to relax in comfort. I commend the designer for these inputs. However, adding some parameters to the design will improve the sustainability of the park.
1. The climate of Iran has a minimum of 800 kWh/m2, and thus the designer should incorporate solar PV to power the LED lighting systems in the park. Panels could be integrated on the roof of the theatre and food stalls, or there could be some solar street and garden lighting.
2. As a public park, there is a need to design for all. Provision for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) is not strong, as the washroom design and sitting areas have no considerations.
3. The idea of designing around existing trees is appreciated, but it must blend with the design. For instance, the tree in the middle of the first two ping pong tables can disturb and affect players anthropometrically. Will existing trees in the fountain survive after all the sand is scooped up and the space filled with water?
4. Please always show the north axis so that one can appreciate the orientation, effect of the sun and wind on your design.
I believe if these comments are addressed, the design will be better and serve the community more sustainably.
