Dear Design Group- Nice work.
My comments are
Good points
1. Use of a vault is a fantastic idea. You may see the successful use of it in B. V. Doshi's work.
2. The introduction of the split level is fantastic, especially giving an extra height on the ground-level reception/common space.
3. Use of brick as local material shows the intention of the designers to prefer local materials.
4. Quality of spaces is somewhat playful.
5. Inner court is very meaning full and created a small neighborhood.
6. Use of rainwater is a good idea.
Places can be improved.
1. I am surprised to see no North sign in any drawing as we prefer to have north and south light through the vault.
2. Generally Vault structures prefer wall (one-way slab) structures. More effort could have been appreciated to show structural clarity in the 3d.
3. Unfortunately the relationship between the central court and the interior space is missing. Too much obsession with the vault may have restricted the creative exploration.
4. Some negative spaces have been created because of the staggering allotment of masses- that could have been avoided by breaking the rigid pattern.
5. Rainwater harvesting detail was expected.
Overall-
I liked the project and it shows the pure academic potential of the designer. There is always room for improvement and I am sure the team will do it in the next.
Thanks for a nice work- Design Team
