Dear Klementina Buseva,
Thank you for submitting your design proposal for the hotel situated in Starigrad, Croatia. As a certified INSPIRELI AWARDS judge, I would like to provide feedback on your project.
Creativity and Innovation:
Your design proposal shows a creative and innovative approach to the design problem. The use of load-bearing walls as the main element of the building is a unique solution, which provides a functional and aesthetic value. The green roofs on the terraces that serve as spacious gardens for the rooms are a clever and sustainable idea.
Design Concept:
Your design concept of exploring the attachment to nature is well-defined and effectively communicated through the design. The low body of the structure appears to be a vital part of the context embedded in nature's flesh, and the expressive shape of the building acts as an extension of nature.
Technical Proficiency:
Your design demonstrates a good understanding of technical requirements and limitations. However, it seems that some important aspects, such as fire exit regulations, have not been adequately considered. Additionally, the building's design does not appear to consider the principles of design from an aesthetic point of view.
Presentation:
Your presentation effectively communicates the design concept, but some aspects of the presentation could be improved. For example, the interior partitions could be designed more smoothly in the deconstructed concept of design, and the long corridors could be avoided.
Sustainability and Environmental Concerns:
Your design shows some awareness and incorporation of sustainable design principles, such as the use of green roofs. However, more consideration could be given to environmental concerns such as minimizing negative impacts on the environment and promoting a healthy living environment.
Social and Cultural Impact:
Your design does not appear to consider social and cultural needs, such as providing a centralized place for social activities. Additionally, the 2-floor basement does not seem necessary considering the space organization of the basements, and it does not provide that much space for carparks considering the large scale of the project.
Overall, your design proposal shows potential, but there is room for improvement. I encourage you to consider incorporating feedback on aspects such as fire exit regulations, aesthetic design principles, minimizing negative environmental impacts, and promoting social and cultural inclusivity. Keep up the good work, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
Sincerely,
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hourakhsh Ahmad Nia, Alanya University, Turkey.
