Dear Tasmia,
The proposed A Hub for Entrepreneurship and Dormitory Living project respects the urban structure of the given location. With its mass, volume and block structure, the project follows on from the neighboring East West University. This chosen solution helps the integration into the already existing urban structure and its regeneration. The total mass of the block is successfully captured by its staggered floors that provide views.
In the project, I appreciate the emphasis placed on the sustainability of the chosen structural and surface material to create a very pleasant indoor environment not only inside the building, but also inside the block, i.e. in the courtyard. The designed greenery creates a pleasant environment in the common areas of the corridors. The project is located in a tropical monsoon environment, so concrete, brick, wood and proper placement of window glazing is a suitable solution for this project.
I have a few complaints about the project. I would recommend using a typical floor plan of the building versus the ground floor plan. It would be good to replace the floor plan of the ground floor with a siteplan in which the main entrances to the area and also the main entrances to the individual buildings would be shown. Since this is A Hub for Entrepreneurship and Dormitory Living, it would be appropriate to focus more in the presentation on showing typical units for this type of living and for work. And their representation of how they are organized in relation to shared areas and communication cores of staircases within individual floors. It is not evident from the presentation what standard of living and working environment the project offers.
Otherwise, I rate the work very positively. It can be seen that Tasmia was able to cope with such a relatively large project and a demanding function program. I wish you a lot of success.
Best regards,
Erik Petrus.
