Work description
Situated in the heart of Europe, yet forging connections all over the world, ETH Zurich is pioneering effective solutions to the global challenges of today and tomorrow. Process and system understanding of the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems and their provisioning of ecosystem services requires a wide range of research disciplines. Based on such a multidisciplinary approach, the Grassland Sciences Group focuses on two major research areas, plant and ecosystem physiology, including functional plant diversity, and ecosystem biogeochemistry, in particular, biosphere-atmosphere greenhouse gas exchange and carbon sequestration. You will get an overview of the research done within our group. Together, we will decide on a project you will be doing on your own, assisted by a PhD student or senior scientist. Topics range from plant ecophysiology to soil science to ecosystem science, based on a wide range of different techniques (check out http://www.gl.ethz.ch/research.html). Both climate chamber as well as field work are possible, depending on the months you are coming.
