Idea projektu

The main idea of the STU CMPS begins with completed urban block of university faculties. Block fits into modern urban raster of the city centre, so there is no need to build other edges. The word "campus" makes me think about something young, fresh and free, which is in correspondence with free settlement. Comunity of students are more like tribe than just neighbours. The advantage of curved facades is that sun penetrates through the buildings from all of cardinal directions. However, partial shading is caused by high-rise objects in the vicinity - National Bank and High-rise building of SvF. The height of the proposed buildings does not exceed the surroundings. All objects strive for maximum transparency and translucency, using different materials in appearance for the purpose of the object. Accommodation units are designed as brick in combination with polycarbonate facades. The individual laboratories are made of glass concrete referring to the original building that has been removed. The main buildings - Innovation Center STU, Media Library, Auditorium and Sports Hall are formed by a structured facade made of insulating triple-glass. The proposal preserves the natural lighting with minimum height of new structures in current buildings. At the same time, however, they disrupt the strict raster of functionalism and bring architectural refreshment. Object rounding provides a natural motion between objects. The project is proposed in accordance with conditions for movement without barriers.

The inventive design of the STU courtyard is a set of buildings, in the number of thirty, divided according to individual functional units. The largest building is the Innovative Interdisciplinary Research Center is focused on meeting students, provides a workspace and the necessary services for different types projects and enables cooperation with practice. It also includes social areas with refreshments. The second floot is dedicated to the Experiential Center of Science and Research. The second largest building is located in the center of courtyard and serves as a multifunctional hall / auditorium, suitable for lectures, screenings, live performances or concerts of music bands. These two buildings are connected by an underground garage of depth three underground floors. The number of parking spaces is 315 including barrier-free spots. Those buildings together with the media library building define the outdoor square intended for social activities. The courtyard project includes a sports hall hall with nearby dressing room and outdoor gym. Laboratories are located freely around the courtyard, in the number of five pieces that need to be replaced to remove the original object in the courtyard. Implementable the project may show the need for different premises for individual laboratories and it is necessary to consult them solution with experts. Smaller buildings are variously distributed throughout the courtyard and serve as students homes and individual study rooms. The courtyard also contains three cells serving as public sanitary facilities, which can cover a larger influx of visitors, e.g. in the event of a social event.

Character of the building: new building Built-up area: 6040.00 m2, Usable area: 7535.00 m2 (+ Garage 9900.00 m2) The STU courtyard consists of a set of university buildings, specifically the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Chemical-Food Technology. The entrances to the building are located in all edge corners of the courtyard. From the northwest side, the terrain descends towards the southeast side, with an elevation of about two meters. Section The courtyard is built with an underground garage with two entrances with two-way traffic. It allows so entrance from Námestia slobody or from Radlinského street. One of the goals of the project is to remove cars from the earth's surface and thus place them underground. This maximizes the area of ​​the inner block and creates it a kind of oasis in the city center. The solar conditions in the courtyard are favorable. Objects and their heights are customizable due to the position within the courtyard. The lower buildings are located closer to the facades of the surrounding buildings and thus allow light to penetrate into the original classes of individual STU faculties. Higher objects are situated to the center of the courtyard. Buildings generally respect the location of engineering networks passing through solved area. The free arrangement of objects allows for simple layout solutions within the objects themselves. In majority cases there are vestibules and hygienic facilities associated with the main function of the building. The main buildings connected by a garage they are a bit more complicated. The building contains two communication cores leading from the underground garage. Each core serves to one of the buildings.
