Idea projektu
The building of the functionalist cinema-cafe, today used for offices and storages, is located in the area of the Brno Exhibition Center. The aim of the renovation is to return to its original purpose - as a center of culture. The concept focuses on restoring the original qualities according to the design of architect Emil Králik from 1927.
Popis projektu
The renovation focuses on opening the terrace, uncovering the original columns, demolishing the additions and replacing the current windows with replicas of the original ones. The spiral staircase on the facade again becomes external, underlining the architectural quality of the building. Mainly the interior spaces are rebuilt, trying to adapt to current needs while preserving authentic elements. New interventions add variability and functionality to the space, while respecting the original construction and materials. The building will be used as a cultural center with multifunctional spaces for various events. The entrance is possible from the eastern facade, where is a multifunctional hall, a cafe and the facilities to these main spaces. On the 2nd floor, there is a hall's balcony, a gallery, performers' facilities and space for workshops or a rehearsal room. The basement is used as a facility for hygiene, storage and technical equipment. The space takes into account clarity and variability, with the support of an adaptive solution and respect for authenticity.
Technické informácie
The supporting system consists of a reinforced concrete frame and a brick masonry system. The materials used - wood, brass and bricks - give the building a characteristic expression and remind of its historical legacy.
