Idea projektu
The submitted proposal is a variably conceived layout in a semi-imbedded basement. It uniquely conceives the zones and functions resulting from the brief, shaped by the requirements and limits. It connects two entrances in a concentric way and works as a tract whose modularity offers to create new spaces. By isolating the basic input information, the design yields four zones. There are the study area, the exhibition area, the reading and relaxation area and the sports-gaming area. Each of them works individually during a normal day, but when the social atmosphere changes, the different functions are able to merge and thus adapt to the surroundings. The separately conceived study zone offers a kind of "stripping" from the entrance area by a sliding structure, which creates a clever entrance corridor, but also a space for occasional exhibitions. It houses the primary necessities for studying, such as chairs, a modular system of tables, two sets of writing boards, and a projection screen. In addition to the possible organization of events such as lectures or discussions, the space can be variably arranged for a larger number of people. The exhibition area connected to the study area creates a seamless transition to the student lounge, which is primarily used for relaxation. There are two variants of the relaxation space: foam and plastic stools on two oval-shaped carpets, or at the same time wooden pallets with soft seating pads, above which cylinders are fixed in the wall for sitting. The accent in this section is a wall covered with perforated red netting. On the other side, across the imaginary axis, there is a sports or so-called game zone. According to its name, it serves mainly to discharge the accumulated energy. In this part, essential elements such as table tennis or a type of seating are kept in place. This has been essentially embodied by a smaller residence staircase, which also serves as a storage for plastic stools. There is also an interactive seating area on movable cylinders, which serves as a game in addition to the semi-private seating area. The last part is dedicated to a kind of eco corner. In this space, students are able to realize themselves with different ideas or art. There is a perforated wall on which various schemes and frames can be hung, there is also a realized sitting area with storage for stools, or also a space for a sink with recycling bins.
Popis projektu
School club Metodka is a space in the current gymnasium Metodova in Bratislava. Under the designed scope falls just a semi-imbedded basement, which is used by students for relaxation, entertainment or education. This space, however, is nowadays unfurnished, disorganized and overcrowded with monotonous function. The space has a 'floating' character and is accessible from the entrance hall and at the same time from a second, related section of the building. There are many elements that have no place or function in the space.
Technické informácie
The furnished space consists of various installations, furnishing elements, various modular lighting that add a different dimension to the space. The main elements of the furnishings are enhanced by materials such as wood, various perforations and red paint on various metals or plastics, which is a typical colour for the Metodova School. Each of the elements used tries to make a pleasant impression on the human psyche and to make the user feel safe and playful in this space. There are also different structures that children can use for play and fun - different seating cylinders, alternating soft and hard surfaces, ceiling trapeze bars for them to stretch their bodies, sliding perforated partitions on which they can hang posters or jackets, or different surface temperatures that can create diversity in the space. Installations, light, colours, surfaces and materials have engaged with the current space and harmoniously suggest the new look of the former basement.
