Dear Lequi Zhong ?
Your project tries to cope with the restoration and building of the many different programs ?and utilities which were damaged in the terrible explosion. ?
However, several important questions come into mind from your proposal. The first relates to ?the effect of the city’s history and its architecture as well as of the destruction on your ?proposal, and the second relates to the its unique geographical conditions.?
?1)? The City of Beirut has a unique history and cultural heritage. One might suggest that ?destruction has become part of it. How does your design relate to these parameters if at ?all? The port of a city in many ways represents and reflects the cities’ specific and unique ?culture and population? Does your design aim to do so??
?2)? Beirut’s port has a unique geographical setting. It is part of Lebanon’s long coastline; it is ?where the city meets the sea. How do the architectural language, scale, segments relate ?to these conditions? How does your proposal relate to the task of building along a shore??
? ?
Good luck
Dana
