The architecture of my building aims to fix this occurrence by revitalizing the social spaces of the city through a propose market path. The market becomes a mediator that brings back the essence (public character) of place. Different path of the market are activated during different time of the day, each carrying its own identity, leading to the personalization of place and attracting back both its old and new community. Moreover, the market creates overlap, thus bringing back the interaction between the currently fragmented communities.

As time goes by, Johor Bahru has become an urban focus for exchange between the transient Singaporeans and locals capitalizing on that market. Thus, the development of the city followed the capitalistic frame work allows old heritage buildings to be taken over by the massive buildings. Despite efforts to revitalize local culture, it cannot be achieved without the interaction between people; now it is more of a people to the product, rather than people to people. Johor Bahru has become a clockwork city where time and economy has ultimately displaced the place, culture, and community. All of this leads to the city losing its soul and character because it changed to fit a consumerist community.
