Idea projektu
The main idea of the design is to create a representative innovation center in conjunction with a pleasant outdoor environment. In the proposal, I focused on solving the main problems of the area in the current state. The first intervention solves the problem of static transport, by creating an underground car park with two entrances from Radlinská Street, while preserving the transitional part under the Faculty of Chemistry. Height difference by creating residential terraces in front of the hall and in the atrium of the new building. At present, the buildings in the courtyard are in poor technical and aesthetic condition, so in the project I approached the remediation of existing buildings, which create a feeling of cramped in the courtyard and the design of new urbanism with one compact, where all educational, research, exhibition, educational and free time activities. A crucial decision is also to make the courtyard accessible by opening all existing pedestrian entrances. The aim was to achieve not only linear perpendicular connections, but also diagonal connections of the main entrances to the courtyard. This diagonal connection was also reflected in the very development of matter, the creation of a cantilever part and thus a smooth transition. In order to create a smooth transition in the transverse direction through the entire object, a console was created on the opposite side of the object. The whole building is dominated by a receding atrium, where an ideal space for rest, recreation and entertainment has been created.
Popis projektu
The design includes an innovative science centre, educational, social, and leisure time premises, both in exterior and interior. The area is located in the centre of Bratislava, and offers many possibilities to make professional or student life pleasant. Currently, the courtyard is in poor aesthetical and technical condition. Because of that, the design began with the renovation of the objects within the courtyard so that the new design could use all the potential of the area as efficiently as possible. The main compositional element of the design was the interconnectedness which is reflected also in the shape of the final object. The diagonal interconnectedness created a continuous passage between the main entries to the area, and the diagonal interconnectedness created another passage through the whole designed object. The whole object is dominated by the retreating atrium with vegetational residential stairs that complete the object. Besides the atrium, the vegetational residential stairs are situated also in the marginal parts of the entry area. This way, the entry area in front of the building offers ideal leisure time premises for a break, recreation, and entertainment. At the same time, it creates a connection of the newly-designed premises with the already existing assembly hall with a dominant curvature. In the design, there is a strong emphasis on the maximization of the vegetational areas and rooftops. Fine wavy terrain in the whole courtyard and on the rooftop completes the design in a way that it will increase the feeling of mental well-being and the attractiveness of the area. Thanks to its uniqueness, attractiveness, and availability, the new university centre will be very valuable not only for the workers or students of the Slovak technical university but also for the public.
Technické informácie
The construction system of the building consists of reinforced concrete cores and reinforced concrete columns. The skeletal system is designed in an 8.1 meter module in the transverse and longitudinal direction, which is the same for the underground car park. The diameter of the columns is dimensioned at 300 mm and the thickness of the ceiling slabs is 300 mm. The load-bearing walls of the cores are made of reinforced concrete, 200 mm thick. Steel truss beams were used for the connecting bridges to the height of the entire floor, as well as for the cantilever part on the 2nd floor. In offices, study rooms and startup centers, glass partitions are used in glazed parts and light plasterboard partitions 150 mm thick in the case of solid walls. Partition walls in the glazed parts between the individual spaces are variable - sliding. The construction height of the floor is 4,500 mm, the clear height of the floor is 3,600 mm. A 400 mm thick suspended ceiling is used throughout the building. An interesting element of the innovation center building is also the lamella facade with a shading system on the south-eastern and south-western facades. It uses the efficiency of vertical rotating lamellas, which are designed for the height of individual floors. The material I chose is polycarbonate in a fine earthy color design to achieve maximum subtlety. The lamella facade is omitted on the 1st floor, optically connected the entire mass on the 2nd and 3rd floors and created a feeling of airiness and lightness.
